SoCal Winter Getaways to Reset and Relax!

Southern California Getaways

We can all use a break from our regular routines sometimes, especially during the stressful months of the holidays. While surrounding ourselves with friends and family is lovely, it can also be hectic. If we don’t take some downtime to regroup and relax, it can detract from our ability to enjoy the precious time we spend with them.

We’ve looked around and found some low-maintenance, quick weekend getaway locations for rest and relaxation this winter:

Crystal Cove Beach Cottages, Newport Beach

Built in the 1930’s, Crystal Cove Beach Cottages are nestled in beautiful Cyrstal Cove State Park. The rustic cottages (practically unchanged since the ’30s) provide a comfortable little place to live surrounded by nature- with the almost private beach right outside your door. If you’re looking for a simple, quiet, and beautiful place to renew, this is a great spot!

The Hotel del Coronado, Coronado Island

A little more glamorous destination is the Hotel del Coronado, Coronado Island. Known to play host to some celebrities from the classic era (Lucille Ball, James Cagney, and Olivia de Havilland, to name a few), the hotel’s location in downtown Coronado makes it a great place if you like to get out to relax. Theater, shopping, and restaurants dot the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding the hotel, and you can count on beautiful weather to accompany your exploration!

Banning House Lodge, Catalina Island

Catalina Island is rich in history, and it’s a perfect place for soaking in the beauty of your surroundings. Fantastic sailing and fishing excursions are available, and it’s chill vibes are contagious. Hiking and camping are activities that are available on Cataline that you’ll find nowhere else. If that’s not your thing, you can book a room at the Banning House Lodge, perched on a hillside overlooking the resort town of Two Harbors and providing panoramic views of the ocean.

Glen Ivy Hot Springs, Corona

This all-inclusive spa is so close to LA, but during your hot stone massage and mud mask therapy, it is easy to forget you’re still in California at all! There are many other treatments available at the spa, but your luxurious day of relaxation doesn’t have to end there. Ayres Hotel Corona West is a short distance from the resort, with amenities to round out your experience. Whether going alone, with friends, or as a romantic getaway- this destination will provide you with a relaxing place to escape and regroup.

Winter Sports at Mammoth Mountain

While not so much in Southern California, the trip up north (about a five-hour drive from LA) is well worth it. This world-famous hot spot for year-round skiing and snowboarding. Cozy, luxurious slopeside cottages with roaring fires welcome you back from a day admiring the unbelievable views and perfect skiing. If you’d like to put a little more winter in your winter getaway- Mammoth is the perfect place to go.

We hope you get the chance to find your perfect place for relaxation this season. For some of us, there’s no place like home, but if getting out of your space for a while does the trick, Southern California’s got you covered!
